Artistic Director - Eon Malan

Eon Malan is a successful church organist, collaborative pianist and choral conductor with a career spanning nearly thirty years of performance, accompaniment and musical leadership. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Eon has studied organ for decades and holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from Stellenbosch University, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Organ Performance and Diplomas in Hymnology and Church Music. He is presently completing his Master of Music under Prof. Mario Nell at Stellenbosch University with a major in organ performance.

As a concert organist, Eon gives regular public concerts and has performed extensively in New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and South Africa. As a student, Eon has been awarded a number of prestigious bursaries from various institutions over the years, including performance bursaries from the Southern African Church & Concert Organists Society (SAKOV), and academic bursaries from the Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk and Stellenbosch University. In 2019 Eon was selected for an international study exchange programme and completed advanced studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the United States.

Currently residing in New Zealand, Eon serves as the Digital Communications Director and Organist at St Peter’s Cathedral in Hamilton, Assistant Organist at St Andrew’s Anglican Church in Cambridge, and Accompanist for the Waikato Mosaic Choir. He also teaches piano, organ and music theory at St Peter’s School in Cambridge, sits on the board of the Waikato branch of RSCM and serves as Vice-President of the Auckland Organ Association.
